calm in the quiet
Even though I’m not particularly a fan of January (sorry my capricorn friends, it’s not you it’s me) I do always feel like I get my habits in line. The no-drinking has made me feel 10/10, not going on my phone so much makes me feel like I have hours of time, and journaling has helped me get my thoughts in line. Whilst I’m not sure how long this will last, I’m really enjoying riding the high of my organised life, spending time at home hibernating has been a blessing and I’m certainly trying to save my energy for the busy moments incomining.
THE VIBE:
new projects, white denim & black coffee
READING:
This weekend I started Joan Didion’s Slouching Towards Bethlehem, which is a collection of essays she wrote during her time in California in the 60s. It’s my first book of Didion’s regrettably (idk why it’s taken me so long) and I get it. I have such a fascination with California and it’s cultural craze. It occupies the centre of so much pop culture, one place with so much significance. I desperately would like to visit someday, but those flights are gonna be a bitch!

EATING:
I’ve been starting my day with a protein smoothie consisting of 1 banana, a handful of strawberries, blueberries, 1 date, milk & the free soul greens. It is the first thing I think of when I wake up, it’s SO good. In fact, I would like to take a minute for Free Souls because although I know I’ve changed a lot in my diet/ lifestyle recently, the free souls protein powder and greens are a standout. They really are doing their thing for female nutrition and I can’t sing their praises enough. (this isn’t an ad although I know it sounds like it lol, just a fan.)
I ate dinner at Akub in Notting Hill on Wednesday and it was divine. Delicious Palestinian food, created locally. They had an incredible veggie selection which I always appreciate as a non meat/fish eater, and everything tasted so fresh and divine. A restaurant and menu worth celebrating. 🇵🇸
PLAYING/ DOING:
Playing with Pinterest a lot this week. I haven’t left the house much but Pinterest has been providing the inspo. I’m currently fixating on new tattoo’s and although I think I’ll wait until summer, these are some favourites on the wishlist.
(these were definitely pulled from a tiktok lol)
Creatively, I’ve been journaling and reflecting a lot on TikTok and why I started. I rediscovered a few old accounts I used to love like @jmesharp & @taylorjanderson. It felt kinda nostalgic but it reminded me of those early TikTok days, before everything was ‘so aesthetic’ I want to be a better storyteller this year.
OBSESSING:
I can’t stop thinking about the Ganni Flats and the Les Spec’s Outta Love Glasses. I have never spent that much money on a pair of shoes but I feel thisss close to it. Like that’s a crazy amount for a pair of shoes lol, that’s nearly the same cost as my trip to Madrid in a few weeks. I’m just worried as soon as I buy them, they’ll become outdated like the Jeffery Campbell Lita shoe of 2014. What are your thoughts on them? Are they overdone?
⭐️Ganni Flats & Les Spec’s Outta Love Glasses
I am in need a new lip liner and I am very much torn between the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk or Rimmel Cappuccino. Maybe I’ll go wild and get them both.
TREATING:
I treated myself to a new mirror this week from IKEA and although it’s yet to arrive, I’m already excited. I bought a mirror over Christmas from an online retailer but it arrived and was completely warped so I had to return it. I have serious itchy feet for when I move out of my parents so this feels like an early investment? It was also on offer. A big yes.
LISTENING:
have the best week ahead my dear friends & thank you for being here,
Lexie xo

Adore the ganni flats, I am having the same debate with myself. As someone who has spent a silly amount of money on shoes before, I swore I would not do it again as I felt it was not a great investment but these are so cute!! Thinking of purchasing a cheaper alternative to see how often I wear before biting the bullet?!
