I have been feeling like I’ve been stuck in mud for the past few weeks. Like the game you would play at school. It’s felt like I’ve been waiting for someone to unstick me and lift me out of this creative rut, but I’ve come to the realisation that the only person who can do that is me! It’s been so long and the longer I’ve left it the more scared I’ve become to write on here, so I’ve decided I just have to push through my fear and say hello. We have a lot to catch up on, so today I will just quickfire a catch up and next week we can begin a slower sort of conversation.
DOING: Surviving summer in London. Consuming an ungodly amount of fab ice lollies and sleeping wrapped in my striped bed threads sheets. It’s now offically been a year in London which has flown and with that I wanted to have a spring clean of sorts. It’s kind of insane how much crap you accumulate, I think I would own about 5 things if I didn’t find myself emotionally attached to shoes and books. We have cleared a literal vans worth of stuff, as I write this I am waiting for Archie to arrive with said van. Excited to show you the reconfigured space. I feel we have been lacking colour in some capacity but have convinced Archie that colourful bed sheets and towels are the way forward.
READING: Not as much as I should… Loved The Nightingale (thank you everyone for this recommendation), madonna in a fur coat, and now at the tail end of Blue Sisters. Next up: Scaffolding, Atmosphere and The Women.
WEARING: The clear out reminded me of some old clothes I had forgotten about so I’ve been playing dress up with my wardrobe. Wearing long skirts, jorts and a recent purchase of this backless top from Abercrombie. Skipping around town in my Aloha’s pumps and trainers on colder days.
LOVING:
Iced Matcha in a variety of different formats, with mango, coconut, vanilla. Honourable mention: Origin Coffee’s matcha
Silver jewellery and mixing metals
I’ve been making art again! For the first time in years. Maybe I’ll share one day, but I forgot how fun it is to paint and draw! Have been enjoying Star Girl aka Annie’s videos. (side note does anyone else remember the book Star Girl? I loved that book.
WATCHING:
Anthony Bourdain. I have a few upcoming trips to Amsterdam and Seville, I always like watching an AB ep on the area and food pre adventure. Speaking of travel, if any of you speak Spanish or know of a Spanish tutor online/ irl in London I would be super appreciative of any recs!
A Complete Unknown
A Real Pain
Conclave
Bump (my favourite comfort watch, I started it in lockdown and just rediscovered it)
Charlee’s videos and monthly recaps:
Katie’s videos/ podcast is the perfect background watch that gets you thinking about your own style
LISTENING:
Watching the 1975 at Glastonbury on the TV filled me such nostalgia last week, I have been playing them on repeat.
Anyway that’s all for now from me, but lets catch up next week with a silly little conversation!
Lexie xx
